Taffy Tales is a story-driven visual novel from UberPie set in a seemingly ordinary small town filled with characters hiding secrets of their own. The story follows a young man whose life is disrupted by the appearance of a mysterious and mischievous doppelgänger, pulling him into an increasingly complicated network of relationships, rivalries, personal problems, and hidden sides of the people around him.
Much of Taffy Tales revolves around getting to know the residents of its town and discovering that their public personalities do not always match what happens behind closed doors. The game uses a large recurring cast whose individual stories gradually intersect, turning what initially appears to be a collection of personal encounters into a much larger narrative.
UberPie later rebuilt the project as Taffy Tales: Redux, substantially rewriting and expanding the original game rather than simply remastering its artwork. The Redux version reorganizes the story into seasons and gives the developer a new foundation for expanding its characters, choices, artwork, and continuing storyline.
The protagonist's mysterious doppelgänger remains one of the defining elements of the premise. Its appearance pushes the protagonist toward situations and decisions he might otherwise avoid, while the surrounding town provides a large cast of characters with their own motivations and interconnected storylines. Player choices influence how these relationships and events develop.

Taffy Tales has grown considerably beyond its original releases, with Redux representing a fresh version of UberPie's story and characters rather than a simple continuation of the older build. Its combination of a large ensemble cast, small-town mysteries, relationship-driven storytelling, and the protagonist's unusual alter ego gives the series an identity that is noticeably different from more conventional dating-focused visual novels.
